Candyware began as a very small company. We made all of our products by hand, out of real, specially treated candy.
Eventually, we could not keep up with demand and we found too many customers were coming back to us with melting jewellery (usually because they had been thrown in a pool or gone nearly naked skinny dipping while wearing their real candy jewellery).
“What can we do?” We thought, to improve our product so all those people can keep having fun while still wearing a piece of sweet candy Candyware?
We were dreaming of the impossible (thinking big) and had to make a decision.
So we decided to find a manufacturer who could create waterproof, melt-proof non-edible candy (no one was supposed to be eating it anyway) from acrylic.
The most cost effective way to do this was in a factory overseas. And it had to be done on a bigger scale than we had ever done before.
After a whole lot of work and a huge learning curve, it turned out the impossible was not so impossible. We’re still a small company and we don’t ever want to become a mass-market-monster but we are growing and of that, we are proud!
This summer, Candyware signed an exclusive distributor to manage our United Kingdom overseas sales (Go UK!!) and we have two lines of new Candyware products in development (as a small company, this takes time – a really long time, as many longtime customers will know).
I am astounded every day by the energy and creative forces that move Candyware forward. We are an evolving company and we love what we do!
Think big. Keep moving forward.
